Boat capsize kills 8 students in Kerala

A school children capsized in the Chaliyar river at Malappuram on Wednesday evening, killing eight students seven boys and one girl.

Two students rescued by local people are in a serious condition. One student, Shamna, is missing.

According to local people, the boat was carrying around 45 students of the Subala Salam Higher Secondary School of Moorkkanad though it had the capacity to carry only 32 students. Apparently, more students entered the boat as they missed a bus.
